12km – The intermediary
The 12km course, slightly longer but just as easy as its 8km little brother, is ideal for walks with friends or family with children. The 4 canoe slides make this course the most fun!
With 3 hours of paddling, you can enjoy a beautiful descent of the Ardèche by canoe without too much effort. The landscapes are impressive and the memories will be unforgettable! You navigate in calm water, maneuver easily in two small rapids and slide on toboggans: a rich and surprising program that will mark the minds of young and old.
At La Vernède, our team of enthusiasts offers you the opportunity to discover the wild and majestic Ardèche from the waves. An out of the ordinary leisure for a total disconnection!
Description
The course has two parts:
- On the first part (about 1h30), you navigate on very calm waters interspersed with 4 specially equipped canoe slides, to the delight of children (and adults)!
- In the second part (around 1.5 hours), you navigate calm waters and then the Charlemagne rapid before reaching the majestic Pont d’Arc, a magnificent swimming area located about 30 minutes from the finish.

Your meeting point is at the premises of La Vernède, route des gorges in Vallon Pont d´Arc. For the 12km course, you start on one of the following slots: 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Please arrive 20-30 minutes before departure.
Preparation before sailing:
Our teams provide you with the equipment you need for your activity (waterproof containers, life jackets, etc.);
you prepare (showers and toilets available on site) and you equip yourself;
you attend a short briefing explaining the course and its particular points, as well as a quick introduction to paddle technique.
You are now ready to go down the Ardèche by canoe!
Our shuttles drop you off at the Sampzon pier (4km away) to get you into the water.
Descent
During the first 4 kilometers of this descent (from Sampzon to Vallon Pont d´Arc), you navigate on very calm waters interspersed by 4 “canoe slides”.
After crossing the Pont de Salavas (approximately 1h30 after your departure), the water flow accelerates slightly. You arrive on the part of the Ardèche which will lead you to the famous Pont d’Arc. On this unmissable site in the region, you can enjoy the magnificent beaches.
Once you have passed the Pont d’Arc, allow around 30 minutes of paddling to reach the beach where the finish of the course is located.

Arrival is in the hamlet of CHAMES
and is materialized by STOP n ° 5 (Left bank).
Our shuttles will be waiting for you on arrival, at the time you have chosen at the time of your departure to bring you back to the Vallon-Pont-D’arc pier, where you will have left your vehicle.
